I thought that this would be very fitting as I just started an office job last week and I’m determined to do everything I can do stay as active as possible even on days where I barely leave my desk. There are several different exercises that you can do at your desk that will improve your flexibility and tone muscles, and I’m going to share some of my favorites with you. Also the new job is the main reason why I haven’t put up many new posts or YouTube videos. I’m still trying to balance everything and I promise I’ll be back to normal soon!
Exercising at your desk
For buns of steel, clench your buttocks and hold for ten seconds. Do five sets of eight reps. The beauty of this exercise is that your supervisors and coworkers won’t see any movement and need not even know that you’re secretly exercising on the job.
If you have an office or a cubicle at work you can easily do 3 set of 12 push ups. I find that this helps get my heart rate up and also give me a little bit of energy when i’m lacking, like today for example!
Rotate your ankles in both directions for five seconds. Do five sets of eight reps in each direction. This exercise can strengthen the flexibility of your ankles and make you less likely to suffer from sprains.
Calf muscle toning
Give your calf muscles a work out by raising your legs up on the very tips of your toes while remaining seated. Your calf muscles should start to burn after a few seconds. Hold for ten seconds and then repeat eight times.
Starting with both feet flat on the floor, do leg lifts, starting first with the right leg and then the left. Lift each leg until it touches the underside of your desk. Do ten sets of eight reps to strengthen your thigh muscles and your core.
If you work in a building, take the stairs instead of the elevator. You’ll burn extra calories and get a cardio workout in without even thinking about it.
Stretching at your desk
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you don’t need to spend hours in the gym to live a healthy life. The little things that you do as part of your everyday routine will become big things in the long run!
Have a wonderful rest of the week, happy hump day!
