I hope you’re all enjoying the last few weeks of Summer, if you’re like me you’re getting excited for Fall and all it has to offer! I’m going back-to-basics with my tips today because there are a lot of people that skip the basics and they end up suffering for it later on in their journeys. Like anything else you take on in life you should look into it and make sure that, what you are doing is right and right for your body.
1. Research – Literally, sit at your computer and do a little bit of research on what you want to do. Want to start crossfit, yoga, lifting, running, hunting… RESEARCH. It won’t take you a lot of time and you will lessen your risk of injury, which could set you back even further. You should also be researching proper form for each exercise because believe it or not form is more important than the amount of weight that you’re lifting. If your form is off everything is off.
2. Plan – When I workout I always take 5-10 minutes before my workout to write down what my workout will consist of. I usually go online and search for new exercises or I just jot down some that I already know. I also plan in order of the exercise that I like the least to the one that I like the most. I find that if I leave the moves that I like least for the end I’m less likely to do them because 1. I don’t like it and 2. I’m tired by the end. For example: Push ups are still hard for me so I do those first then they’re out of the way and I can enjoy the rest of my workout! Little tricks like that make all the difference for me.
3. Stretch – this is the first thing that you need to do before your workout and the last thing after your workout to prevent injury among other things. For more on why you should stretch and tips on stretching click HERE.
